Melanie Cohavi fell in love with massage first as a patient. As a college freshman, she experienced painful tension headaches. Her doctor recommended massage therapy and Melanie’s headaches quickly disappeared.
“I thought it was amazing . . . and it was exactly what I wanted to do,” Melanie says. As a student at Israel’s Reedman College for Complimentary and Integrative Medicine, Melanie’s concentrations were on western massage and reflexology, and she focused on therapeutic and clinical applications plus sports massage. She’s practiced privately since 1999 in multiple locations in Israel, Lawrence and Kansas City.
Melanie picked up tennis upon her return to Kansas City, and after an injury, she first experienced Sport + Spine as a client. First as a client and now as a massage therapist, Melanie loves being part of a community where “you always hear laughter,” she says.
Outside Sport + Spine, Melanie enjoys spending time with her two teenage sons. She also enjoys traveling, tennis and hiking, plus wakeboarding in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.
